Born in California and spending the last 15 years in Colorado, Nick Dunbar is no stranger to the Wild West and the cowboy culture raising cattle, hogs and lambs on his property. He has toured all over the country playin some of the country’s premier festivals including Summer Camp, 10,000 Lakes, Wakarusa, Winter Wondergrass, Campout for the Cause, Horning’s Hideout, and many more. He has shared the stage with greats like Sara Evans, New Rider’s of the Purple Sage, The String Cheese Incident, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Elephant Revival, Michael Kang, Vince Herman, Drew Emmitt, Billy Nershi, Jeff Austin, Tim Carbone and Todd Shaeffer to name a few.
In Nick's captivating debut solo album “Little Country” mastered by Grammy winning artist David Glasser, he creatively intertwines the classic Western swing and Honky Tonk sounds of greats like Lefty Frizzell, Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb with the country western outlaw traditions of Merl Haggard and Willie Nelson. His songwriting is at times cathartic and honest but at others playful and humorous.
Nick keeps his audience on their toes with his diverse catalogue. One moment he’s singing Texas Playboys from the 40’s and the next thing you know he is shredding a country version of Green Day’s Basket Case. His set lists are always evolving and no two shows are alike. His band, Sad Cowboy, is made up of New Jersey’s premier country players. His shows are filled with hot licks, witty banter and no two are alike. He will make you fall out of your seat laughing and then break your heart just moments later
It’s an album of honky tonk rhythms and pedal steel swirls from this Colorado-based throwback country musician and songwriter who grew up in California. There are plentiful Western country and old swing elements shared within these tunes, which results in a very pleasing listening experience. This whole album is a carefree listen, with songs that are catchy, straightforward, gratifying and easy to identify with.
